
The DStv Explora Ultra decoder is the latest Multichoice decoder in the market. It comes with new unique features, including built-in access to Netflix and other popular streaming apps. If you have recently bought one or you are planning to, here is what you need to install your new Explora Ultra decoder.
The basic equipment and devices for DStv installation
The required installation equipment is determined by the type of your house or premises which you are going to install your DStv Explora Ultra. If it is a stand-alone house or an apartment that uses its own satellite dish. The recommended Explora Ultra installation requires a Smart LNB, 80cm Satellite dish kit, Coaxial Cable and F-type connectors.
Then if you are staying at a communal setup whereby you will be sharing the same dish with other apartments/houses. The Smart Switch will be required instead of a Smart LNB.
Please also note that if you are going to install the satellite dish and the decoder by yourself you will also need a satellite signal finder machine. However, we highly recommend hiring professional DStv installers. Professional installers carry all the equipment and instruments required for the installation. We are your DStv Installer of choice!
How to Install DStv Explora Ultra?
First of all, you need to install your satellite dish. The position of your dish must be clear from obstacles like trees and buildings. Your dish must face 68.5 degrees east and the easiest way to know the direction is to just look at the other Dstv satellite dishes already installed around your area. Then you can use your Satellite signal finder machine to properly align your dish.
Then connect one end of your coaxial cable using F-connector to the Unicable port on the Smart LNB. The other end connects to your decoder port where it’s marked Unicable In. After all the connections, you can switch on your decoder and run the installation wizard.

Step 1
Please select your preferred language and press OK to continue
Step 2
Select your country and press OK to continue
Step 3
Select your network type that you are using and press OK to continue
- Wifi – when using wireless internet connection
- Ethernet – when using wired internet connection
You will have the option to skip the Connectivity Setup process if you don’t have the internet connection or for any other reason. Press ARC to skip
Step 4
Select your Wifi network and press OK
Insert your password and press OK to continue
You will have the option to skip the Connectivity Setup process like when you don’t have the internet connection or for any other reason. Press ARC to skip
Step 5
Give it a few seconds until it shows green ticks which shows that it’s connected to the internet. Press OK to continue

Step 6
Select your preferred volume output setup and press Ok to continue
Step 7
Select your preferred tuner settings.
Please note, on the Signal Status Monitor it must display blue bars on all 3 tuners and on both columns of Signal Strength and Signal Quality. Then you can press OK to start scanning your channel.
Step 8
Please give it a moment to scan channels. When it’s done, the decoder will automatically save the channels and proceed by itself to live TV.
At this moment you will need to contact Multichoice Call Centre to activate your Explora Ultra Decoder. Please note, If it is not a new decoder, you can as well use self service platforms such as whatsapp, USSD code, and web interface to re-activate your services.

The DStv Explora Ultra delivers standard-definition video via RCA, HD and 4K video via HDMI and it does not support RF.
